Gay.Com as changed its chat format. They don't make it easy......Women: Make sure you check female when you fill out the profile or you will only get a list of male chat rooms. After you fill out the profile click the "Enter Chat" icon, then in the rooms list, click the arrow tab in front of "Women: Worldwide", then click the arrow tab in front of "Worldwide Regions", then click the arrow tab in front of "USA", then click the arrow tab in front of "Pennsylvania", you will then have a choice of "Erie", "PA Statewide", and "Philadelphia" chat rooms, either double click on the room you want to enter or highlight the room and click the Enter Room Icon

The Stonewall Cafe was established in June 1997 as one of the first female-only online communities on the Internet. Nice mixture of lesbian and straight women discussing women's issues. Not a sex site... you'll need to join the community to access the chat. Excellent.

Yahoo! Gay Chat
Yahoo! does have a gay chat room (with a rather large community of chatters). To use it, however, you will need a Yahoo! Id. Under "Chat Categories" chose "Romance" then click on "Gay Men's Lounge" or "Lesbian Women's Lounge" choose the room you want to enter from the dropdown list and click on it.
